The return of spring is here. The birds are singing and the snow is melting. It feels so good to breathe and feel the moist earth again. Life is beginning again and it can be felt and heard.
It is early February and we are still quite in the midst of winter yet the very first to return for the new season were the bluebirds!
They are among the first birds to return and they usually come back to the same boxes.
We cleaned out the boxes and added some felt scraps to make it warm and cozy for them. It was such a sweet sign to see these bright blue birds in the middle of winter.
The seasons here in New England are so deep and intense. They are lived and experienced fully. This winter has been no exception. We have had a cold and very snowy season and I have been loving every minute of it.
I try and take walks to our back fields and woods every day and see new animal tracks every day. Deer, mouse, fox, rabbit, squirrel, coyote and turkey are a few of the tracks we spotted.
The intense silence and beauty of the white glistening snow makes this place extra magical. Spotting all the empty nests is always so sweet.
Winter mornings like this..
